Jesus teaching
ministry was to those who had ears that could hear. This is not from a
physical point of view but from a spiritual point of view.
He taught in
parables so that those who did have ears to hear would be stimulated to ask
questions about what he was teach. They would want to know the meaning of the
parable.
Jesus was teaching
the word of God in his parables. The word of God was the mysteries of the
kingdom of heaven. You can see this from Luke 8:10-11.
Jew understood that
one day there would be an earthly kingdom and they were looking for their
king. They did not know and understand
that Jesus was offering a heavenly kingdom to the many that were called and
the few that were chosen. If he was offering this heavenly kingdom to the
whole nation of Israel, then the first covenant would be cancelled. That
covenant has not been cancelled.
