UNTO YOU, NOT TO OTHERS
TWO AUDIENCES
Luke 8:10  And he said, Unto you it is given to know [aorist, perceive] the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand [present active, send together].
JESUS TAUGHT USING PARABLES
Matthew 13:34  All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them:
PARABLES STIMULATE QUESTIONS
Mark 4:10  And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.
SOMETIMES “OTHERS” UNDERSTOOD
Matthew 21:45  And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.
He was teaching his disciple saying
“Unto you it is given”
Given to you and
Not given to others
Parables explained
In private to disciples
who asked questions
No questions asked.
To understand the
Mysteries of the kingdom
taught in parables only
to stimulate questions
There were two audiences that were present when Jesus taught. Those that were given the ability to understand his parables or the desire to ask questions about the parable. There were those who could not understand the parable and did not have questions to ask about the meaning of the parable.
Jesus used parables to stimulate questions.
There were those in his audience that perceived that he was talking about them, but did not ask questions.
