PHILIPPIANS 1:6

Text:  Philippians 1:6  Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

HE BEGAN A GOOD WORK

Philippians 1:6  Being confident [perfect active participle] of this very thing, that he which hath begun [aorist middle participle] a good work in you will perform [future Active indicative, finish] it until the day of [Christ] Jesus Christ:

TO WILL, TO DO

Philippians 2:13  For it is God which worketh [present active] in you both to will [present active] and to do [present active] of his good pleasure.

TO PROVE HIS WILL

Romans 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may [to] prove [present active infinitive, to prove] what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

HIS WILL IS A MYSTERY

Ephesians 1:9  Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

HIS WILL, OUR SONSHIP

Ephesians 1:5  Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children [to place as a son] by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

PREDESTINED INHERITANCE

Ephesians 1:11  In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

HIDDEN WISDOM, OUR GLORY

1 Corinthians 2:7  But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained [predestined] before the world unto our glory:

PREDESTINED ARE CALLED

Romans 8:29-30  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.  30  Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

CALLING AND ELECTION NOT SURE

2 Peter 1:10-11  Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make [present middle] your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things (add to your faith, vrs 5-7), ye shall never fall:  11  For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting [age] kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

HIS WORKMANSHIP

Ephesians 2:10  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

MAINTAIN GOOD WORKS

Titus 3:8  This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed [perfect active] in God might be careful [anxious] to maintain good works. …

UNTO GOOD WORKS

Romans 2:6-7  Who will render to every man according to his deeds:  7  To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek [present active participle, ones seeking] for glory and honour and immortality [incorruption], eternal [age] life (of glory and honor in the coming kingdom age):

UNTIL THE DAY OF CHRIST

Philippians 1:6  Being confident [of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of [Christ] Jesus Christ:

APPROVE THINGS EXCELLENT

Philippians 1:10  That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;

THERE WILL COME A FALLING AWAY FIRST

2 Thessalonians 2:1-3  Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,  2  That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.  3  Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

DEPARTING FROM THE FAITH

1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

DEPARTING FROM GOD

Hebrews 3:12  Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

IN THAT DAY

2 Thessalonians 1:10  When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

CROWNED IN THAT DAY

2 Timothy 4:7-8  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:  8  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at [in] that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

GOD IS PERFECTING AND WORKING

Hebrews 13:20-21  Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,  21  Make you perfect [optative mod, to mend, repair, adjust] in every good work to do his will, working [present active participle] in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

BROTHERS DO THE WILL OF THE FATHER

Matthew 12:50  For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

NOT JUST SEE, BUT ENTER

Matthew 7:21  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

JESUS DID THE WILL OF THE FATHER

John 5:30  I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear [present active, to listen (to his will)], I judge [present active, decide (his will)]: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

A SON IS ONE WHO OVERCOMES

Revelation 21:7  He that overcometh [present active] shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

HE WANTS US TO OVERCOME

Revelation 3:21-22  To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.  22  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
