PHILIPPIANS 1:1-2

Text:  Hebrews 11:1-2  Now faith [feminine] is the substance [stands under] of things hoped for [present passive neuter participle], the evidence of things [neuter] not seen [present passive neuter participle, things not being seen].  2  For by it [feminine (faith)] the elders obtained a good report.

GOOD REPORT REQUIRED

Hebrews 11:39  And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:

HOPE OF AGELASTING LIFE

Titus 3:7  That being justified (not chargeable, Rom 8:33) by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

THE PROMISE

1 John 2:25  And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

HOPE OF THE GOSPEL

Colossians 1:22-23  … to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:  23  If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, …

NOT DEPARTING FROM THE FAITH

1 Timothy 4:1  Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith,

HOPE OF HONOR

Colossians 1:27  To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory [honor]:

HOPE OF AGELASTING LIFE

Titus 1:2  In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

 

HOPE IS NOT A SURE THING

Acts 24:26  He (Felix) hoped also that money should have been given him of Paul, that he might loose him: wherefore he sent for him the oftener, and communed with him.

HOPE OF HONOR

Romans 5:2  By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory [honor, praise] of God.

HOPE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

Galatians 5:5  For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

HOPE OF HIS CALLING

Ephesians 1:18  The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

HOPE OF SO GREAT SALVATION

1 Thessalonians 5:8  But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

CHRIST IS ALREADY RISEN

Romans 10:7  Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)

CHRIST IS RISEN

1 Peter 1:21  Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory [honor, (the promise Act 2:33)]; that your faith (that gives support to the hope) and hope might be in God.

YOU BELIEVE FAITH IS NOT IN VAIN

1 Corinthians 15:14  And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.

WORD OF FAITH

Romans 10:8  But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

SPIRIT OF FAITH

2 Corinthians 4:13  We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed [aorist active indicative], and therefore have I spoken [aorist active indicative]; we also believe [present active indicative], and therefore speak [present active indicative];

CONFESS, AORIST

Romans 10:9a  That if thou shalt confess [aorist active subjunctive] with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,

SPEAK, AORIST

2 Corinthians 4:13  … I believed [aorist active indicative], and therefore have I spoken [aorist active indicative]; …

BELIEVE, AORIST

Romans 10:9b  and shalt believe [aorist active subjunctive] in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

PAUL BELIEVED

2 Corinthians 4:13  … I believed [aorist active indicative], and therefore have I spoken;

THEN BELIEVETH

Romans 10:10a  For with the heart man believeth [present passive indicative] unto righteousness;

WE ALSO BELIEVE

2 Corinthians 4:13  … we also believe [present active indicative], and therefore speak;

CONFESSION, PRESENT TENSE

Romans 10:10b  …. and with the mouth confession [present passive indicative] is made unto [leading to] salvation (of the soul, the so great salvation of Heb. 2:3).

WE CONTINUE TO SPEAK

2 Corinthians 4:13  … we also believe, and therefore speak [present active indicative];

LEADS TO SOUL SALVATION

Romans 10:10c  …. and with the mouth confession [present passive indicative] is made unto [leading to] salvation (of the soul, the so great salvation of Heb. 2:3).

SOUL SALVATION

1 Peter 1:5  Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto [leading to] salvation (of the soul, life) ready to be revealed in the last time.

IF WE PASS THE TEST GLORY

1 Peter 1:7  That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

REVEALED SALVATION

1 Peter 1:9  Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls [life, (in the kingdom of heaven)].

IF WE CONTINUE TO BELIEVE

Romans 10:11  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth [present active participle] on him shall not be ashamed .

HE THAT BELIEVETH WILL NOT BE SHAMED

Romans 9:33  As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumbling stone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth [present active participle] on him shall not be ashamed.

NOT BE ASHAMED

1 John 2:28  And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
