Text: 2 Timothy 3:1-5 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
LAWLESSNESS SHALL ABOUND
Matthew 24:12-13 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of [the] many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
SOWING AND REAPING
Galatians 6:7-9 Be not deceived [present active]; God is
not mocked [present passive]: for whatsoever a man soweth [present
active], that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth [present
active] to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that
soweth [present active] to the Spirit shall
of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9 And let us not be weary [present
active] in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we
faint [present passive] not.
WELL DOING, PRAYING
Luke 18:1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought [present active] always to pray [present middle], and not to faint [present middle];
PERSEVERE IN PRAYING
Ephesians 6:18 Praying [present middle] always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching [present active] thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
HE GUARDS THE HEART
Philippians 4:6-7 Be careful [present active imperative] for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known [present passive imperative] unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth [present active] all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
PERSEVERE
James 5:8 Be ye also patient [persevere]; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
ESTABLISH YOU HEART
Hebrews 13:9 … For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; …
PRAYING THE SCRIPTURES
Psalms 1:2-3 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
WHAT IS OUR SOUL SAYING
Lamentations 3:24-26 The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. 25 The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. 26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
KNOW THIS
Isaiah 30:18 And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.
REMEMBER THIS
Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
DO THIS
Psalms 27:14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
LET GRACE REIGN
Romans 5:21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto [leading to] eternal [kingdom age] life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
BY GRACE YE ENDURE
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye [ye endure] saved [perfect passive, having been saved] (grace) through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
GRACE, THE POWER OF CHRIST
2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect [present passive] in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
BOLDLY BE AT THE THRONE OF GRACE
Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come [present middle] boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find [get] grace to help in time of need.
FOLLOW AFTER, FIGHT, LAY HOLD
1 Timothy 6:11-12 But thou, O man of God, flee [present active imperative] these things (riches); and follow after [present active imperative] righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. (contentment) 12 Fight [present middle imperative] the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, …
FOCUS ON THE FAITHFUL
Hebrews 12:1-3 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run [present active] with patience the race that is set [present passive] before us, 2 Looking [present active] unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint [present passive] in your minds [souls].
VALUE OF ENDURING
Hebrews 10:35-36 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. 36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. (kingdom age life, 2 John 2:25)
HEIRS ACCORDING TO THE HOPE
Titus 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
HOPE, ANCHOR OF THE SOUL
Hebrews 6:18-19 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before [present middle] us: 19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth [present middle] into that within the veil;
ENDURE SOUND DOCTRINE
2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
BRING OUR THOUGHTS INTO CAPTIVITY
2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down [present active] imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself [present middle] against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity [present active] every thought to the obedience of Christ;
STABILITY OF LIFE
Isaiah 33:6 And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure.
