ROMANS 8:1
Sunday
Morning: February 5, 2006
Text:
Romans 8:1-4 There is therefore now no condemnation
to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the
Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of
sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was
weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful
flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4 That the righteousness of the
law might be fulfilled in us, who walk
not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
HOLY SPIRIT IN ROMANS 8
Romans 8:5 For they that are after [kata, according to] the flesh do
mind [present active] the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit (do mind) the things
of the Spirit (Holy Spirit).
HOLY
SPIRIT AND SPIRIT
Romans 8:16 The
Spirit itself beareth witness with our
[the] spirit, that we are the
children of God:
THE HOLY
SPIRIT INTERCEDES FOR US
Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the
Spirit also helpeth our infirmities:
for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with
groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind
of the Spirit, because he maketh
intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
WALKING
ACCORDING TO SPIRIT
Romans 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be
fulfilled in us, who walk [present active, walking]
not after the flesh, but after [kata, according to] the Spirit.
THE
SPIRIT OF SON-SHIP
Romans 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption [place as
a son], whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
THE
CRY OF HIS SPIRIT
Galatians 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
THE
SPIRIT OF A SON
Mark 14:36 And he said, Abba, Father, all things
are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.
OUR
SPIRIT
Romans 8:16 The
Spirit (Holy Spirit) itself (spirit
is neuter in gender) beareth witness with our spirit, that we are
the children [teknon, not uiov, sons] (not sons)
of God:
MEEK
AND QUITE SPIRIT
1 Peter 3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart,
in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is
in the sight of God of great price.
RENEW
THE SPIRIT OF YOUR MIND
Ephesians 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
SPIRIT
OF POWER, LOVE, SOUND MIND
2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
SPIRIT OF BONDAGE
Romans 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear;
but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
OUR SPIRIT
LIMITS US
Romans 11:8 (According as it is written, God hath given them [Israel] the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they
should not hear;) unto this day.
SPIRIT
OF WISDOM
Ephesians 1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the
Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge [epignwsiv, exact knowledge] of him:
JESUS
GREW STRONG IN SPIRIT
Luke 2:40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in
spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.
THE
WORDS I SPEAK ARE SPIRIT
John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh
profiteth nothing: the words that I
speak unto you, they are spirit,
and they are life.
SOW
TO THE ABBA SPIRIT
Galatians 6:8-9 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the
flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth
to the (Abba) Spirit
shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting [agelasting,
in the kingdom age]. 9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
HAVE
A BLAMELESS SPIRIT
1 Thessalonians
5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify
you wholly; and I pray God your
whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
CLEANS
OUR SPIRIT
2 Corinthians
6:17-7:1 Wherefore come out from among
them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing;
and I will receive you, 18 And
will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith
the Lord Almighty. 7:1 Having
therefore these promises, dearly beloved,
let us cleanse ourselves from
all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
SPIRIT
OF FAITH
2 Corinthians 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed [aorist active], and therefore have I spoken [aorist active]; we also believe [present active], and [moreover, yea] therefore speak [present active];
SPIRIT OF BELIEVING, FAITH
1 Peter 1:7-9 That
the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of
gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at
the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8 Whom having not seen, ye love [present active]; in whom,
though now ye see him not, yet believing [present active], ye
rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
9 Receiving the end of
your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
HE THAT BELIEVETH
1 John 5:4-5 For
whatsoever is born of God overcometh
[present active] the world: and this is the victory that overcometh
[aorist active] the world, even our faith. 5 Who
is he that overcometh [present active]
the world, but he that believeth [present
active] that Jesus is the Son of God?
TO CONTINUE THAT SPIRIT
1 John 5:13
These things have I written unto you that believe [present active] on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have [ecw, present active
regard] eternal [agelasting
(kingdom)] life, and that ye may believe [present active subjunctive] on the name of the Son of God.
