Text: Read Romans
5:12-21
Romans 5:15,
19 But not as the offence, so also is
the free gift. For if through the offence of one (Adam) [the] many be dead [aorist, they died],
much more the grace of God, and the gift
(agelasting life) by grace, which is by one man,
Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto [the]
many. . . . 19 For
as by one man's (Adam) disobedience [the] many were made sinners, so by the
obedience of one (Christ) shall [the] many be made righteous.
THE MANY
Romans 12:4-5 For
as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same
office: 5 So
we (Rom 1:7), being [the]
many, are one body in Christ,
and every one members one of another.
MANY ARE CALLED
Matthew 22:14 For many
are called, but few are chosen.
TO REIGN IN HIS KINGDOM
1 Thessalonians
2:12 That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called
you unto his kingdom and glory.
BY
ONE MAN, ADAM
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man [the] sin entered into the world, and [the]
death by [the] sin; and so [in this way] [the] death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
THE
ONE MAN REIGNED
Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:
and let them (Adam, Eve) have
dominion [rule, reign] . . .
over all the earth, .
THE
SIN DEFINED
1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth [the] sin
transgresses also the law: for [the] sin is the transgression of the law.
YOUNG’S
LITERAL TRANSLATION
1 John 3:4 Every one who is doing [present active participle, practice] the sin, the lawlessness also he doth
do [present active, practices],
and the sin is the lawlessness,
EVE
WAS DECEIVED
1 Timothy 2:13-14 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14 And
Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in
the transgression.
LAWLESSNESS
IS DECEITFUL
Hebrews 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is
called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of [the] sin
(of lawlessness).
DECEPTION
OF EVE
Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any
beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman,
Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the
garden? (THE TRUTH)
EVE
AFFIRMS, AND EMBELLISHES
Genesis 3:2-3 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may
eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall
ye touch it, lest ye die. [apoqnhvkw, lxx, aorist,
Concept of physical death would not have been known at that time.)
COMMANDMENT
OF GOD
Genesis 2:17 But of
the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in
the day [within 1,000 years, 930 years, 2 Pet. 3:9] that thou eatest
thereof (death, noun, lxx, qanatov] thou shalt
surely die (apoqanhvkw future
indicative, 2p, lxx).
PROCESS
OF DECEPTION
Genesis 3:4-6 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall
not surely [qanatov, in the lxx, noun] die [apoqanvkw, lxx, future
indicative]: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof,
then your eyes shall be opened, and ye
shall be as gods [judges]
(to be promoted), knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did
eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
THROUGH
DEATH ADAM LOST DOMINION
Genesis 3:23-24 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. 24 So
he drove out the man;
THE LORD HATES LAWLESSNESS
Hebrews 1:9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and
hated iniquity [lawlessness]; . . .
THE
LAWLESS ARE DENIED
Matthew 7:21-23 Not
every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22
Many will say to me in that day, Lord,
Lord, have we not prophesied in thy
name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful
works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you (denial): depart from me, ye that work [present tense] iniquity [lawlessness] (He
did know that they were lawless). (Those not doing the will of the
Father denied entrance into the kingdom)
THE SIN IMPLIED
Romans 5:13 (For until
the law (of Moses) sin
was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no
law.
THE LAW REVEALED THE SIN
Romans 7:7c I
had not known [the] sin, but
by the law.
BETTER KNOWLEDGE OF SIN
Romans 3:20 . .by the
law is the knowledge [epignwsiv, exact knowledge] of sin.
THE DEATH
REIGNED
Romans 5:14 Nevertheless [the] death [qanatov] reigned
[ruled] from Adam to Moses, even over
them that had not sinned (lawlessness) after the similitude of Adam's transgression (the sin of
lawlessness), who is the figure of him
(Jesus Christ) that was to come.
JESUS
SUFFERED THE DEATH
Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower
than the angels for the suffering of [the] death [qanatov], (for those that feared death)
crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste [the]
death [qanatov] for every
man.
PHYSICAL DEATH
Luke 9:27 But
I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death [qanatov], till they see the kingdom of God. (transfiguration)
FEAR
OF DEATH
Hebrews 2:14-16 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers
of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through [the] death [qanatov] he might destroy
[bring to naught (his power)] him that had the power of [the] death
[qanatos], that is, the devil; 15 And deliver them who through fear of death
were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
16 For verily he took not on him the
nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
SERVANT OF LAWLESSNESS
John 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say
unto you, Whosoever committeth [present
active] [the] sin is the
servant of [the] sin.
LAWLESSNESS, THE DEVIL’S PURPOSE
1 John 3:8 He
that committeth [present active]
[the] sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth [present active] from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was
manifested, that he might destroy [luw, release] the works of the devil.
HE
MIGHT REDEEM US
Titus 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all (bondage of) iniquity [anomia, lawlessness], and purify unto
himself a peculiar people (servants of good works), zealous of good
works.
MAKE YOUR CALLING AND ELECTION SURE
2 Peter 1:10-11
Wherefore the rather, brethren,
give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye
do these things, ye shall never fall:
(as did Adam and Eve) 11 For so an
entrance shall be ministered unto
you abundantly into the everlasting
[agelasting] kingdom of our
Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
THE LAWLESS PRACTICE THESE SINS
Galatians 5:19-21 Now
the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery,
fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred,
variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings,
murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you
before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do [present active, practice]
such things shall not inherit the kingdom
of God.
PRACTICE SIN
Hebrews 10:26 For
if we sin [present active,
practice sin] wilfully after
that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more
sacrifice for sins,
