NO FAITH BETWEEN
Sunday Morning: April 14, 2002
Text: Hebrews
11:29-30 "By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry
land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned. 30.
By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they
were compassed about seven days."
Ephesians 2:2-3
"Wherein in time past ye walked according to the
course of this world, according to
the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that
now worketh in the children of
disobedience:
3. Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in
the lusts of our flesh,
fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind;
and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others."
1 Corinthians 9:26-27 "I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as
one that beateth the air: 27. But I keep
under my body,
and bring it into
subjection:
lest that by any means, when I have preached to others,
I myself should be a castaway."
1 Corinthians 10:1-11 "Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant,
how that all our fathers were
under
the
cloud, and all
passed
through
the
sea; 2. And were all
baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
Romans 6:4
"Therefore we are
buried
with him
by
baptism into death: that like as Christ was
raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so
we also should
walk
in
newness
of
life."
1 Corinthians 10:3-4
"And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 4. And did all drink the
same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed
them: and that Rock was Christ."
Deuteronomy 8:2-3
"And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these
forty years in the wilderness, to
humble
thee, and to
prove
thee,
to
know what was in
thine
heart, whether thou wouldest
keep
his commandments, or no. 3. And he
humbled
thee, and suffered thee to
hunger,
and fed thee with
manna,
which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might
make thee know that man doth
not
live by bread only,
but by every
word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live."
Deuteronomy 8:15-16
"Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were
fiery
serpents, and
scorpions,
and
drought, where there was no water;
who
brought thee forth
water
out of the rock of flint; 16. Who
fed
thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy
fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee,
to do thee good at thy latter end;"
TEST FAILED
1 Corinthians 10:5
"But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in
the wilderness."
Acts 7:39
"To whom our fathers would
not
obey, but
thrust
him from them, and
in
their
hearts
turned
back
again into
Egypt,"
Numbers 14:2
"And all the
children of Israel
murmured
against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them,
Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt!
or would God we had died in this wilderness!"
YOU HAVE
WHAT YOU WANTED
Numbers 14:28-31 "Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye
have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you: 29. Your carcases shall
fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to
your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured
against me, 30. Doubtless ye shall not come into the land,
concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of
Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun. 31. But your little ones, which ye said
should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which
ye have despised."
1 Corinthians 10:6-10
”Now
these things were our examples, to the intent we should not
lust after evil things, as they also lusted. 7. Neither
be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down
to
eat and
drink, and rose up to
play.
8. Neither let us commit
fornication,
as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. 9.
Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were
destroyed of
serpents.
10. Neither
murmur
ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the
destroyer."
Numbers 21:4-9
"And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the
land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much
discouraged
because of the way.
5. And the people
spake against
God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt
to
die
in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and
our soul loatheth this light bread. 6. And the LORD
sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and
much
people
of Israel
died. 7. Therefore the people
came to Moses, and said,
We have sinned,
for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD,
that he
take away the serpents
from us. And Moses prayed for the people. 8. And the LORD said unto Moses,
Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass,
that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. 9. And
Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass,
that if a serpent had bitten any man,
when he beheld the
serpent of brass, he lived."
SHOULD NOT PERISH
John 3:14-16
"And as
Moses lifted up the
serpent
in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15. That
whosoever
believeth [present active
participle] in him should
not
perish, but have eternal life (land flowing with milk
and honey). 16. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten
Son, that whosoever believeth [present active participle] in him should
not
perish, but have everlasting life
(land flowing with milk and honey)."
1 Corinthians 10:11
"Now all these things happened unto them for
ensamples: and they are written for our
admonition, upon whom the ends of the
world [ages] are come."
Hebrews 3:7-11
"Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will
hear his voice, 8.
Harden not your
hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation
wilderness: 9. When your fathers
tempted
me,
proved me, and
saw my works forty years. 10. Wherefore I was grieved
with that generation, and said, They do alway
err
in their
heart; and
they have not known my ways. 11. So I sware in my
wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)"
Galatians 5:16
"This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil
the lust of the flesh.
Galatians 4:6
"And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son
into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father."
Mark 14:36
"And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee;
take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou
wilt."
Galatians 5:17-20 "For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and
the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so
that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18. But if ye be led of
the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 19. Now the works of the
flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication,
uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20. Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred,
variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,"
Galatians 5:21
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of
the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that
they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God (land
flowing with milk and honey)."
