By Faith His Parents
Sunday Morning: March 17, 2002
Text:
Hebrews 11:23 "By
faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents,
because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid
of the king's commandment."
Hebrews 12:1
"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of
witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily
beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,"
Exodus 1:15-18; 20-21
"And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which
the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other
Puah:
16.
And he said, When ye
do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the
stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a
daughter, then she shall live.
17.
But the midwives
feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but
saved the men children alive.
20.
Therefore God
dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and
waxed very mighty.
21.
And it came to pass,
because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses."
Exodus 2:1-3
"And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a
daughter of Levi.
Exodus 6:20
"And Amram took him Jochebed his father's sister to wife; and she bare
him Aaron and Moses. . ."
2.
And the woman
conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly
child, she hid him three months.
3.
And when she could
not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it
with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it
in the flags by the river's brink."
Matthew 10:28
"And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able
to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy
both soul and body in hell."
Ezekiel 14:19-20
"Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my fury
upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast: 20. Though Noah,
Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, saith the
Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but
deliver their own souls by their righteousness."
Daniel 1:8
"But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not
defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine
which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he
might not defile himself."
Daniel 1:17 "As for these four children, God gave them
knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel
had understanding in all visions and dreams."
Daniel 6:10
"Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into
his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he
kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks
before his God, as he did aforetime."
Daniel 6:27 "He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders
in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the
lions."
Daniel 3:15-19
"Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet,
flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of music, ye fall
down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship
not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace;
and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
16.
Shadrach, Meshach,
and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are
not careful to answer thee in this matter.
17.
If it be so,
our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace,
and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
18.
But if not, be it
known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the
golden image which thou hast set up.
19.
Then was
Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that
they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was
wont to be heated."
Daniel 3:28 "Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be
the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and
delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word,
and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor
worship any god, except their own God."
Romans 12:1 "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God,
that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,
acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."
Job 5:17-18
"Behold, happy is the man
whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening
of the Almighty: 18. For he maketh sore, and bindeth
up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole."
PREPARED FOR TROUBLE
Job 5:19-23
"He shall deliver thee in six
troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee. 20. In
famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power
of the sword. 21. Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the
tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.
22. At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be
afraid of the beasts of the earth. 23. For thou shalt be in
league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field
shall be at peace with thee."
Isaiah 14:24
"The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying,
Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed,
so shall it stand:"
Job 23:10-12 "But he knoweth the way that I take: when
he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. 11. My foot hath
held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.
12. Neither have I gone back from the commandment of
his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more
than my necessary food."
Job 13:15
"Though he slay me, yet will I
trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him."
Job 23:13-14
"But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what
his soul desireth, even that he doeth. 14. For he performeth
the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are
with him."
Mark 14:36 "And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible
unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but
what thou wilt."
Job 40:7-8
"Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand [ask] of thee, and
declare [teach] thou unto me. 8. Wilt thou also disannul [annul]
my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?"

THOUGHTS

their cry, and will save them."
