Hebrews 11:9-11 "By faith he (Abraham) sojourned
in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in
tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same [the]
promise: 10. For he looked for a city which hath foundations,
whose builder and maker is God. 11. Through faith also Sara
herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when
she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised."
Genesis 12:8-10
"And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and
pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and
there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of
the LORD (no answer). 9. And Abram journeyed,
going on still toward the south. 10. And there was a
famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn (out
of the land) there; for the famine was grievous in the land."
Genesis 12:13
"Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well with
me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee."
Genesis 15:4
"And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,
This (Abraham's servant) shall not be thine heir; but he that shall
come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir."
Genesis 16:4-5
"And he (Abraham) went in unto Hagar, and she conceived:
and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was
despised in her eyes. 5. And Sarai said unto Abram, My wrong be
upon thee: I have given my maid into thy bosom; and when she saw that
she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes: the LORD judge between
me and thee."
Genesis 17:16-17 "And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea,
I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people
shall be of her. 17. Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and
said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred
years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?"
Genesis 18:12-14
"Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed
old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? 13. And the LORD
said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear
a child, which am old? 14. Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the
time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and
Sarah shall have a son."
Genesis 20:1-2 "And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south
country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar.
2. And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and
Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah."
Genesis 21:1-2 "And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the
LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken. 2. For Sarah conceived,
and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had
spoken to him."
Numbers 23:19
"God is not a man, that he should lie; neither
the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do
it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make
it good?"
Romans 4:19-22
"And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now
dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of
Sarah's womb: 20. He staggered not at the promise
of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
21. And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was
able also to perform. 22. And therefore it (faith) was
imputed [reckoned] to him for righteousness."
Hebrews 10:35-36
"Cast not away therefore your
confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. 36. For
ye have need of patience [upomenh, endurance], that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might
receive the promise."
Hebrews 6:11-15
"And we desire that every one of you do show the same diligence
to the full assurance of hope unto the end: 12.
That ye be not slothful, but followers of them
[Hebrews 11] who through faith and patience [makroqumia, longsuffering] inherit the promises. 13. For when God made
promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,
14. Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will
multiply thee. 15. And so, after he (Abraham) had patiently
endured [makroqumew, aorist, to the end], he obtained
the promise."
1 John 2:25 "And this is the promise that he hath promised us,
even eternal [aiwniov,
(kingdom) age]
life (of honor and glory)."
Isaiah 30:18
"And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious
unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy
upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are
all they that wait for him."
Luke 18:1, 7-8
"And he spake a parable unto them
to this end, that men ought always to pray, and
not to faint;. .
7.
And shall not God
avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto
him, though he bear long [makroqumew,
present active]
with them? 8. I tell you that he will avenge them speedily.
Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?"
IT IS GOOD TO WAIT
Lamentations 3:25-26 "The LORD is good unto them that wait
for him, to the soul that seeketh him. 26. It is good that a
man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the
LORD."
Psalms 27:14
"Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he
shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the
LORD."
Psalms 37:34
"Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall
exalt thee to inherit the land:"
James 5:7-8
"Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming
of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of
the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the
early and latter rain. 8. Be ye also patient; stablish
your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh."
Revelation 22:12
"And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with
me, to give every man according as his work
shall be."
