Text:
Hebrews 10:24-25 "And let
us consider one another to provoke unto love and to
good works:
25.
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as
the manner of some is; but exhorting one another:
and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching"
WHAT CAN I CONTRIBUTE
Romans 12:10
"Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly
love; in honour preferring one another;"
Philippians 2:2-5
"Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same
love, being of one accord, of one mind.
3. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in
lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things
of others. 5. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ
Jesus:"
MINISTER TO
OTHERS
Matthew 20:28
"Even as the Son of man came
not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life
a ransom for many."
Matthew 24:12
"And because iniquity [lawlessness] shall abound,
the love of many shall wax cold."
Hebrews 10:22-24
"Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of
faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our
bodies washed with pure water. 23. Let us hold fast the
profession of our faith [hope] without wavering; (for he
is faithful that promised;) 24. And let us consider one
another to provoke unto love and to good works:"
RUN WITH PATIENCE
Hebrews 12:1
"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of
witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so
easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is
set before us,"
Root meaning of
provoke:
incitement
(to good), or
dispute
(in anger):--contention, provoke unto.
to
sharpen alongside, i.e. (fig.) to exasperate:--easily
provoke, stir.
Acts 17:16
"Now while Paul waited for them at
Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly
given to idolatry."
1 Thessalonians 1:6-8 "And ye became
followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the
word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost: 7. So that ye
were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and
Achaia. 8. For from you sounded out the
word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every
place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so
that we need not to speak any thing."
ARE WE EXAMPLES?
Philippians 3:14-17
"I press toward the mark for the prize
of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 15. Let us
therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing
ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. 16.
Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule,
let us mind the same thing. 17. Brethren, be followers [imitators
with] together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have
us for an ensample."
IMITATE ME?
1 Corinthians 11:1 “Be ye followers [imitators] of me, even as I also
am of Christ.”
Hebrews 10:24-25
"And let us consider one another to provoke unto
love and to good works:
Galatians 5:6
"For in Jesus Christ neither
circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which
worketh by love."
Galatians 5:14 "For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even
in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."
Hebrews 10:38
"Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back,
my soul shall have no pleasure in him."
Hebrews 6:1
". . . let us go on unto
perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead
works, and of faith toward God,"
Hebrews 6:12
"That ye be not slothful, but followers [imitators] of
them who through faith and patience inherit the
promises."
Hebrews 10:22
"Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance
of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience,
and our bodies washed with pure water."
LIVE BY FAITH
Hebrews 10:38
"Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw
back (from faith), my soul shall have no pleasure
in him."
1 Thessalonians 1:3
"Remembering without ceasing
your work of faith, and labour of love, and
patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and
our Father;"
Hebrews 6:10
"For God is not unrighteous to
forget your work and labour of love, which ye have showed toward
his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister."
Hebrews 10:24
"And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and
to good works:”
PROFITABLE
Titus 3:8
“This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that
thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful
to maintain good works. These things are good and
profitable unto men.”
GLORIFIES THE FATHER
Matthew 5:16
"Let your light so shine before
men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which
is in heaven."
2 Corinthians 9:8
"And God is able to make all
grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all
things, may abound to every good work:"
HAVE GRACE
Hebrews 12:28
"Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be
moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God
acceptably with reverence and godly fear:"
CREATED UNTO GOOD WORKS
Ephesians 2:10
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good
works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
A WORTHY WALK
Colossians 1:10
"That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all
pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and
increasing in the knowledge of God;"
2 Timothy 3:16-17
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is
profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness: 17
That the man of God may be perfect,
thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”
ZEALOUS OF
GOOD WORKS
Titus 2:14-15
“Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from
all iniquity [lawlessness], and purify unto himself a peculiar
people, zealous of good works. 15
These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke
with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
Hebrews 10: 25
"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the
manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and
so much the more, as ye see the day approaching"
Matthew 16: 27
"For
the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and
then he shall reward every man according to his works."
Colossians 3:23-25 "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily,
as to the Lord, and not unto men; 24. Knowing that of the Lord
ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye
serve the Lord Christ. 25. But he that doeth wrong shall
receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of
persons."
THE DAY IS AT
HAND
Romans 13:11-14
". . . knowing the time, that now it is
high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer
than when we believed. 12. The night is far spent, the day is at
hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us
put on the armour of light. 13. Let us walk honestly, as in the
day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not
in strife and envying. 14. But put ye on the Lord Jesus
Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the
lusts thereof."
