Text:  Romans 16:7-10  Salute Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen, and my fellowprisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me.  8  Greet Amplias my beloved in the Lord.  9  Salute Urbane, our helper in Christ, and Stachys my beloved.  10  Salute Apelles approved in Christ. Salute them which are of Aristobulus' household.

IN CHRIST

Romans 16:7  Salute Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen, and my fellow prisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me.

THE CALLED AND CHOSEN HAVE EARS

Matthew 22:14  For many (of the saved) are called, but few are chosen (of the many called).

DEAD IN CHRIST RISE FIRST

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, … and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  17  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them…

EVERY MAN IN CHRIST

1 Corinthians 15:22-23  For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.  23  But every man (in Christ) in his own order [rank]: Christ the first fruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

CALLED AND CHOSEN ARE WITH HIM

Revelation 17:14  … he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

PARABLE OF THE SOWER

Matthew 13:9  Who hath [present active participle] ears to hear, let him hear [present active imperative].

DISCIPLES ASK WHY PARABLES?

Matthew 13:11  He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you (His disciples) to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

“THEM” OF VERSE 11

Matthew 13:13  Therefore speak [present active] I to them in parables: because they seeing [present active participle] see [present active indicative] not; and hearing [present active participle] they hear [present active indicative] not, neither do they understand [sunihmi, to put together, present active indicative].

NOT CALLED

Matthew 13:19  When any one heareth [present active (but doesn’t receive it, present active) the word of the kingdom, and understandeth [sunihmi, send together] it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

BLINDED

John 12:40  He hath blinded [perfect active, continuing] their eyes, and hardened [aorist indicative, no doubt] their heart; that they should not see [aorist subjunctive] with their eyes, nor understand [aorist subjunctive] with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

CALLED IN CHRIST

Matthew 13:20  But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth [present active] the word (the word of the kingdom), and anon with joy receiveth [present active] it;

VEIL STILL IN PLACE

2 Corinthians 3:14-16  But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same veil untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which veil is done away in Christ.  15  But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart.  16  Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away.

BEFORE ROMANS 9

PAUL TURNED TO THE LORD

RECEIVED SIGHT AND BAPTIZED

Acts 9:17-18  And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.  18  And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.

PAUL’S WAYS WERE IN CHRIST

1 Corinthians 4:17  For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, … who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.

PREACHING AND TEACHING

Colossians 1:27-28  To whom God would make known (pull back the veil) what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:  28  Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man (in Christ) in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

2 Timothy 2:15  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2 Corinthians 13:5  Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith (not positionally but lifestyle); prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates [unapproved]?

APPROVED ARE CROWNED

James 1:12  Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried [approved], he shall receive [future middle] the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
