Text:  Romans 12:1-2  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

PAUL IS WRITING TO BRETHREN

Romans 1:13  Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, …

THE ONES BELIEVING

Romans 1:16-17  For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.  17  For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

THE FAITHFULNESS REWARDED

Romans 2:6-7  Who will render to every man according to his deeds:  7  To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal [agelasting] life: (kingdom life)

MORAL LAW NOT MADE VOID

Romans 3:30  Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

RAISED AGAIN FOR OUR JUSTIFICATION

Romans 4:25  Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

SO MIGHT GRACE REIGN

Romans 5:21  That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

THE GIFT, AGELASTING LIFE

Romans 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

THE BODY WEIGHTS US DOWN

Romans 7:24  O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

GOD IS THE ONE JUSTIFYING

Romans 8:33-34  Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.  34  Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, …

GOD MAKES VESSELS OF HONOR

Romans 9:21  Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonor?

SO GREAT SALVATION

Romans 10:10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

WARNING

Romans 11:21  For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.

THEREFORE, BRETHREN

Romans 12:1  I beseech [parakalew, exhort] you therefore [now (after chapters 1-11)], brethren, by the mercies [noun, verb in 9:15 compassions) of God, that ye present [to stand beside, exhibit, provide] your bodies a living [present active] sacrifice, holy [adjective (ceremonially clean, morally blameless)], acceptable [adjective, well pleasing] unto God, which is your reasonable [logical, adjective] service.

MY BROTHER

Mark 3:35  For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

DOING THE WILL OF THE FATHER

Matthew 12:50  For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

A KINGDOM SEEKER

Matthew 7:21  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

MERCIES OF GOD

Romans 9:15  For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion (verb) on whom I will have compassion (verb).

PRESENTING YOUR BODIES

Daniel 3:14  Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?

ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING

Daniel 3:16-18  Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.  17  If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.  18  But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

YIELDED THEIR BODIES

Daniel 3:28  Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.

SIN CAN REIGN IN THE BODY

Romans 6:11-12  Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive [present active participle] unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.  12  Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts (of the body) thereof.

THE DEEDS OF THE BODY MUST DIE

OUR BODIES ARE MEMBERS OF CHRIST

WE ARE TO HONOR GOD IN OUR BODIES

CONTROL BODY APPETITES

1 Corinthians 9:27  But I keep under [buffet, punch] my body, and bring it into subjection [enslaved]: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

SPIRIT, SOUL, AND BODY BLAMELESS

1 Thessalonians 5:23  And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit (attitude) and soul and body be preserved [guarded] blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

BE TRANSFORMED

Romans 12:2  And be not conformed [present passive imperative being fashioned]  to this world [age]: but be ye transformed [present passive, metamorphose, inward change] by the renewing [renovating] of your mind [understanding], that ye may prove [discern, approve, test, examine] what is that good [beneficial, adjective], and acceptable [well pleasing, adjective], and perfect [complete, adjective], will [desire, purpose] of God.

PASSIVELY FASHIONED

1 Peter 1:14  As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves [being conformed] according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

LOOKING UNTO JESUS

2 Corinthians 3:18  But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass (Bible) the glory [honor] of the Lord, are changed [present passive, being transformed] into the same image from glory [honor] to glory [honor], even as by [from] the Spirit of the Lord.

CONFORMED TO HIS IMAGE

Romans 8:29  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

PROVE ALL THINGS

FROM THE HEART, GOD’S WILL

THIS IS THE WILL OF GOD

1 Thessalonians 4:3  For this is the will of God, even your sanctification [consecration], …

GOD AT WORK IN US

Hebrews 13:20-21  Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,  21  Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

WILL ENDURE TO THE END OF THIS AGE

1 John 2:17  And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth [present active, practices] the will of God abideth [present active, endures] for [this] ever [age].
