Text: Romans 10:18-21 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world. 19 But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you. 20 But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me. 21 But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.
YES THEY HAVE HEARD
Romans 10:18 But I say, Have they (remnant) not heard? Yes verily, their sound [voice, (by preaching)] went into all the earth, and their (preachers) words [rhma, not plural, specific word, the word of faith] unto the ends [uttermost parts] of the world [present passive participle, dwelling place, inhabited earth].
RIGHTEOUSNESS OUT OF FAITH SPEAKS
Romans 10:6 But the righteousness which is of [out of] faith speaketh on this wise, …
rhma IS IN YOUR MOUTH
Romans 10:8 But what saith it? The word [rhma, specific word (of faith)] is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word [rhma, specific word] of faith, which we preach;
THE SPECIFIC WORD OF GOD
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing [report (given)], and hearing [report (preached)] by the word [rhma, specific word] of God. (mysteries of the kingdom of heaven)
TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH
Acts 2:36-39 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. 37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? (not to be saved) 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized (so great salvation preached at the beginning, Hebrews 2:3) every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission [afesiv, deliverance, liberty] of [from] sins, and ye shall receive [future middle, (not passive)] the gift (a particular gift defined in verse 39, the promise) of [from] the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise (agelasting life] is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off (Gentiles), even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
THESE CARRIED THE MESSAGE
Acts 2:5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout [pious, (saved Jews)] men, out of every nation under heaven.
PREACHED TO EVERY CREATURE
Colossians 1:22-23 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: 23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
THE HOPE OF GLORY
Colossians 1:25-27 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the
dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;
Even the mystery which hath been hid from
ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his
saints: 27 To whom God would make known what is the riches
of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in
you, the hope of glory:
Acts 8:14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
Acts 8:27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,
HE WAS BAPTIZED
Acts 8:36-37 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37 And Philip said, If thou believest [present active] with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe [present active] that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
GENTILES HEARD BY PETER
Acts 10:44-45 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift (the promise of agelasting life to the called) of [from] the Holy Ghost.
MOSES PROPHESIED OF THIS
Romans 10:19 But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.
I WILL PROVOKE THEM
Deuteronomy 32:21 They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people (Gentiles); I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.
PROVOKE THEM TO JEALOUSY
Romans 11:11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall [offence] salvation (so great salvation) is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them [Israel] to jealousy.
ISAIAH’S PROPHECY OF SAVED GENTILES
Romans 10:20 But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.
INVITATION TO GENTILES
Isaiah 65:1 I am sought of them that asked not for me; I am found of them that sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation that was not called by my name.
GENTILES ALSO CALLED
Romans 9:24-26 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles? 25 As he saith also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved. 26 And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children [sons] of the living God.
NOW THE PEOPLE OF GOD
1 Peter 2:9-10 But ye (elect, strangers, v.1, Gentiles) are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
GOD REACHED OUT TO HIS PEOPLE
Romans 10:21 But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying (contradicting, denying) people.
GOD WELCOMED THEM TO CHANGE
Isaiah 65:2-3 I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts; 3 A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick;
