Text: Romans 8:14-16 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
SENT HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON
1 John 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we (those that have fellowship with the Father and the Son 1:3) might live [aorist active subjunctive] through him.
WE
1 John 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
SON OF THE HIGHEST
Luke 1:31-32 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
JESUS, THE SON OF GOD
Luke 1:35 . . . that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
VIRGIN BIRTH
Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
A VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD
Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
BORN KING OF THE JEWS
Matthew 2:1-2 . . . there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
BE ABOUT MY FATHER’S BUSINESS

FINISHED EARTHLY MINISTRY
John 17:4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
WHERE IS THE LAMB
Genesis 22:7-8 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb (first occurrence, OT) for a burnt offering? 8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
BEHOLD THE LAMB
John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb (first occurrence, NT) of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
JESUS MUST BE KILLED AND RAISED

IT IS FINISHED

HE SHALL PROLONG HIS DAYS
Isaiah 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
HE IS RISEN
Matthew 28:6-7 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. 7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
RAISED FOR OUR JUSTIFICATION
Romans 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences (salvation), and was raised again for our justification (approval).
SON, THIS DAY HAVE I BEGOTTEN THEE
Acts 13:33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.
MADE AN HIGH PRIEST
Hebrews 5:5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.
THE SPRINKLING OF BLOOD
John 19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
BLOOD ON THE MERCY SEAT
Hebrews 9:11-12 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
CHRIST NOT RAISED, FAITH IS VAIN
1 Corinthians 15:14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain (we can be saved but not able please God).
GOD’S SON AT HIS RIGHT HAND
Romans 8:33-34 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. 34 Who is he that condemneth [judges against]? It is Christ that died (for our offences, sins), yea rather [much more], that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
UNCHARGEABLE
1 John 1:7-9 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood (on the mercy seat in heaven) of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
LIVING HOPE BY RESURRECTION
1 Peter 1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
WE CAN LIVE LIKE THE SON
Romans 8:15-16 For ye (that have the spirit of God v.9)
have not received the spirit of bondage again to
fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption [son-ship],
whereby we (v.12, brethren) cry, Abba, Father. 16 The
Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children
of God (not yet sons);
CHRIST, OUR EXAMPLE
1 Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
THE MIND OF GOD AND CHRIST
Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit,
if so be that the Spirit of God (1 Cor 7:40) dwell in
you. . . .
WE - BRETHREN
Romans 8:12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
BRETHREN LIVE LIKE THE SON
Matthew 12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
SPIRIT OF GOD AND CHRIST
Galatians 4:6 And because ye are (living like) sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
ABBA SPIRIT, LIFESTYLE
Mark 14:36 And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.
AN OVERCOMERS LIFESTYLE
John 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
HE THAT OVERCOMETH SHALL BE MY SON
Revelation 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
Luke 14:26-27 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. 27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
Luke 14:33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
