Text: Romans
6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
CEREMONIAL LAW NAILED
Colossians 2:14 Blotting
out the handwriting of ordinances
that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
NOT
UNDER THE LAW?
Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
LAW
IS MADE FOR THE UNJUST
1 Timothy 1:9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous [dikaiov, just] man, but for the
lawless [adjective] and disobedient [adjective], for the
ungodly [adjective] and for sinners [adjective], for unholy [adjective] and profane [adjective], for murderers
[smiters] of fathers and
murderers [smiters] of mothers,
for manslayers, (capital offenses under law)
THE
MORAL LAW IS GOOD
1 Timothy 1:8 But we know that the law is good,
if a man use it lawfully;
THE
LAW, MORAL
Romans 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy [adjective], and the commandment holy [adjective],
and just [adjective], and good
[adjective].
THOU
SHALT NOT COVET
Romans 7:7 . . . I
had not known sin, but by the law:
for I had not known lust, except the
law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
UNDER GRACE
Romans 6:14 For sin
shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
THE
UNCHARGEABLE
Galatians 3:11 . . . The just shall live by faith.
BY FAITH WE PLEASE HIM
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he
is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
NO
FAITH, UNDER THE LAW
Romans 14:23 . . . for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
NO
FAITH NO GRACE NO HOPE
Romans 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into
this grace wherein we stand, and
rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
GRACE
IS TO REIGN
Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
GRACE SHOULD REIGN
Romans 5:21 . .
. even so might grace reign through righteousness (obedience) unto eternal [agelasting] life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
GRACE DEFINED
2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will
I rather glory in my infirmities, that the
power of Christ may rest upon me.
SATISFACTION THROUGH GRACE
2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able [present active] to make all grace abound toward
you; that ye, always having [present
active] all sufficiency [contentment,
satisfaction] in all things, may
abound [present active
subjunctive] to every good work:
EFFECTS
OF GRACE
1 Corinthians
15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was
bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I
labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of
God which was with me.
RECEIVED
NOT HIS GRACE IN VAIN
2 Corinthians 6:1 We then, as workers together with
him, beseech you also
that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.
DO NOT FRUSTRATE GRACE
Galatians 2:21 I do not frustrate
[present active, set aside, despise] the grace of God: for
if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain [for
naught]. (the ceremonial law is in force,
ENDURE BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH
Ephesians 2:8 For by
grace are ye [present active, endure Mk 4:17] saved [perfect
passive participle, having been saved] through
faith; and that not of yourselves: it
is the gift (grace is a gift)
of God:
WARNING!
Hebrews 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye,
shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden
under foot the Son of God, and
hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy
thing, and hath done despite [insult]
unto the Spirit [vital principal]
of grace?
SON
OF GOD, OUR PRIEST
Hebrews 5:5-6 . . . he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten
thee. 6
As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever [age] after the
order of Melchisedec.
THROUGH
HIM WE FIND GRACE
Hebrews 4:14, 16 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the
heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let
us hold fast our profession.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
UNDER
FOOT
Matthew 5:13 . . . good
for nothing, but to be cast out,
and to be trodden under foot of men.
IF WE CRUCIFY THE SON OF GOD
Hebrews 6:6 If they shall fall away, (impossible)
to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves
the Son of God (their high priest)
afresh, and put him (themselves) to an open shame.
WORKS APART FROM GRACE BURNED
Hebrews 12:28-29
Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have [present active
subjunctive, may we have] grace,
whereby we may serve [present
active subjunctive] God acceptably
with reverence and godly fear: 29 For
our God is a consuming fire.
DO
NOT CONTINUALLY LACK GRACE
Hebrews 12:15 Looking
diligently [present active, you
take the oversight] lest any man fail
[present active, lack, suffer need, (be in) want] of the grace of
God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and
thereby many be defiled;
WHEN
DO WE FALL FROM GRACE?
Galatians 5:3-4 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised (ceremonial), that
he is a debtor to do the whole (ceremonial) law. 4
Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law (alone); ye are fallen from grace.
THESE
DO NOT FALL FROM GRACE
Galatians 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in
the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
(the do not fall from grace,
they have power from Christ)
MAY
WE HAVE GRACE
Hebrews 12:28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have [present active]
grace, whereby we may serve God
acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
GRACE
BY MEANS OF KNOWLEDGE
2 Peter 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge [epignwsiv, knowledge upon
knowledge] of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
EMPHASIS
ON THE LAST PHRASE
1 Peter 1:2 . . . (Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.)
through sanctification (purification) of the (our) Spirit (drive, vigor), unto [leading
to] obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
PEACE IS THE UMPIRE
Colossians 3:15-16 And let the peace of God rule [umpire]
in your hearts, to the which also ye
are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching
and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to
the Lord.
