Text:  Romans 6:5-8

LIKENESS OF HIS RESURRECTION

Romans 6:5  For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

EXCEPT THE SEED DIE

John 12:24  Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

CONTEXT

John 12:27  Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

HE PRAYED IN GETHSEMANE

Mark 14:35-36  And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.  36  And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.

DIE TO YOUR OWN DESIRES

John 12:25-26  He that loveth his life shall lose [apollumi, perish] it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.  26  If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

ACCEPTED THE FATHER’S WILL

Hebrews 5:7-8  Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death [qanatov], and was heard in that he feared;  8  Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

THE ONES BELIEVING HAVE HOPE

1 Peter 1:21  Who by him (Christ) do believe [present active, the ones believing] in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him (Christ) glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

BY GRACE WE STAND IN HOPE

Romans 5:2  By whom (Christ) also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

SEEKING GLORY

Romans 2:6-7  Who will render [reward] to every man according to his deeds [works]:  7  To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek [present active participle, seeking] for glory and honour and immortality [incorruption, by sowing to the things of the abba spirit], eternal life (reward):

GLORY IS PURCHASED

2 Thessalonians 2:14  Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining [purchase] of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

CALLED TO HIS KINGDOM AND GLORY

1 Thessalonians 2:12-13  That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.  13  For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe [present active, ones believing].

THE WORD OF GOD

Luke 8:10-11  And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God (the seed that was sown): but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.  11  Now the parable is this: The seed (the mysteries of the kingdom) is the word of God.

NEWNESS OF LIFE

1 John 3:2-3  Beloved, now are we the sons [children) of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.  3  And every man that hath [present active participle, also regard or esteem] this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

CRUCIFIED

Romans 6:6  Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of [the] sin might be destroyed [become of no effect, made idle (impaired)], that henceforth we should not serve [the] sin.

TO LIVE BY FAITH

Galatians 2:20  I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live [present active]; yet not I, but Christ liveth [present active] in me: and the life which I now live [present active] in the flesh I live [present active] by the faith of [from] the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

LIVE UNTO CHRIST

2 Corinthians 5:15  And that he died for all, that they which live [present active participle] should not henceforth live [present active subjunctive] unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

THOSE HAVING DIED

Romans 6:7  For [conjunction] he that is dead [having died] is freed [perfect passive, has been justified (not chargeable)] from [the] sin (of lawlessness).

RAISED FOR OUR JUSTIFICATION

Romans 4:25  Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

JUSTIFIED ARE NOT CHARGEABLE

Romans 8:33  Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.

LIVE WITH HIM

Romans 6:8  Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

IN THE HEAVENLY CITY

John 14:1-3  Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.  2  In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  3  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

WITH HIM IN GLORY

Colossians 3:4  When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.

TO LIVE WITH HIM IS TO REIGN

2 Timothy 2:11-13  It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:  12  If we suffer [endure], we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:  13  If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

EXHORT YOURSELVES

1 Thessalonians 5:10-11 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.  11  Wherefore comfort [present active exhort] yourselves together, and edify [present active, build up] one another, even as also ye do.
