Text: Romans 1:15-17 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel
to you that are at Rome also. 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel
of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the
Greek. 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from
faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Romans 1:15 "So, as much as
in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome
also."
“THE
GOSPEL TO YOU”
Romans 1:7 "To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called
to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father,
and the Lord Jesus Christ."
Romans
16:25-26 "Now to him that is of power to stablish
you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according
to the revelation [uncovering] of the mystery, which was
kept secret since the world began, 26. But now is made manifest,
and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the
everlasting God, made known to all nations [Jews and Gentiles] for
[leading to] the obedience [attentive subjection] of
[from] faith:"
2
Thessalonians 2:13-14 "But we are
bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of
the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation
[so great salvation Heb. 2:3] through sanctification of the Spirit and
belief of the truth: 14. Whereunto [salvation] he called
you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus
Christ."
Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the
power of God unto [leading to] salvation to every one that
[the] believeth [present active participle, believing]; to
the Jew first, and also to the Greek."
Acts 16:31 "And they said, Believe [aorist active imperative]
on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt (not leading to) be
saved, and thy house."
“THAT
BELIEVETH”
Romans 4:11 "And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness
of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be
the father of all them that believe [present active], though they
be not circumcised; that righteousness (by faith) might be imputed unto
them also:"
Romans 3:22 "Even the righteousness of God which is by faith
of [from] Jesus Christ unto all and upon all
them that believe [present active participle]: for there
is no difference:" (between faith and believe in the
present tense)
Romans 1:17 "For therein is the righteousness of God revealed
[present active, process] (by Paul’s gospel) from faith to faith: as it is
written, The just shall live by faith."
“FOR”
This
word is a conjunction tying verse 17 with verse 16.
“THEREIN”
Romans
1:17 "For therein [neuter singular] is
the righteousness of God revealed . . ."
Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel [neuter
singular] of Christ: . . . "
“RIGHTEOUSNESS
OF GOD”
Matthew 6:33 "But seek [present active] ye first the
kingdom of God, and his (God’s) righteousness; . .
."
Romans 3:21-22 "But now the righteousness of God without [in
addition to, Mat. 14:21; 2 Cor. 11:28] the (moral) law is
manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22. Even the righteousness
of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them
that believe: for there is no difference:"
Romans 3:28 "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by
faith without [in addition to] the deeds of the (moral)
law."
Hebrews 11:6 "But without faith it is impossible to please
him: . . and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently
seek him."
“REVEALED”
Romans 1:17 "For therein is the righteousness of God revealed
[present active, being uncovered] (by Paul’s gospel. . ."
2 Corinthians
3:13-16 "And not as Moses, which put a veil
[covering] over his face, that the children of Israel could
not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: 14. But their
minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same veil
[covering] untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which veil
[covering] is done away in Christ.
15. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon
their heart. 16. Nevertheless when it (Israel) shall turn
to the Lord, the veil [covering] shall be taken away."
Romans 11:25 "For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of
this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in
part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in."
“FROM
FAITH TO FAITH”
Romans 1:17 ". . . from [ek, out from] faith to [eis, leading to] faith: . . ."
2 Corinthians 10:15 ". . .
having hope, when your faith is increased [present passive,
growing], . . ."
Romans 10:17 "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing
by the word of God." (preached)
“THE
JUST”
Luke 1:6 "And they were both righteous [dikaiov, just] before God, walking
[present middle] in all the commandments (moral law) and
ordinances of the Lord blameless."
Philippians
3:6 "Concerning zeal, persecuting the
church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless."
Philippians
3:9 "And be found in him, not having mine
own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of
Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:"
“SHALL LIVE BY FAITH”
Romans 1:17 ". .The just shall
live by [by means of] faith."
Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence
of things not seen."
1 Peter 1:3-5 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a
lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4. To
an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved
in heaven for you, 5. Who are kept [present tense, guarded]
by the power of God through faith unto (so great) salvation
(Heb 2:3) ready to be revealed [uncovered secret] in the
last time."
Colossians 1:27 "To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:"
