Sunday Morning:  November 27, 2005

Text:  Romans 6:14  For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

DOMINION, LAW OR GRACE?

Romans 6:14  For sin shall not have dominion (rule) over you (who have died to self): for ye are not under the (dominion) (ceremonial) law, but under (dominion) grace.

GRACE IS TO RULE

Romans 5:21  That as [the] sin hath reigned unto  death, even so might grace reign through righteousness (obedience v. 6:16) unto [leading to] eternal [agelasting] life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

LAW

Romans 6:14  For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

CEREMONIAL LAW

Hebrews 9:1  Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.

IN ORDINANCES

Hebrews 9:10  Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

WARNING, TRADITION OF MEN

Colossians 2:8  Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

 ORDINANCES OUT OF THE WAY

Colossians 2:14  Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

RELIGIOUS LEADERS OF THE LAW

Colossians 2:15  And having spoiled principalities [rulers] and powers [authorities], he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it (removal of ordinances of the law, v. 14).

CONTRARY ORDINANCES

Colossians 2:16  Let no man (rulers, powers, v. 15) therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon (seasons), or of the sabbath days:

THESE THINGS ARE HERE

Colossians 2:17  Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

ABOVE US IN EXPERIENCES

Colossians 2:18  Let no man beguile you of your reward (take the prize from you) in a voluntary humility (self abasement) and worshipping (from fear) of angels [messengers], intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, (taking his stand on visions he has seen, inflated without cause by his fleshly mind, NASB)

NOT SUBJECT TO ORDINANCES

Colossians 2:20  Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments (Orderly arranged as the principles of the ceremonial law) of the world (Israel), why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances (given by Moses to Israel),

CEREMONIAL LAW

Colossians 2:21-22  (Touch not; taste not; handle not;  22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?

TRADITIONS OF THE FATHERS

Mark 7:8-9  For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.  9  And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
