JESUS GAVE HIMSELF

Text: Galatians 1:4  "Who gave [divdwmia, aorist active participle] himself [ejautou'] for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:"

"OUR" REFERS TO BRETHREN

Galatians 1:4  "Who gave himself for our (brethren) sins, that he might deliver us (brethren) from this present evil world [age], according to the will of God and our (brethren) Father:"

ADDRESSES THE BRETHREN

Galatians 6:18  "Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen."

THEY DO THE WILL OF THE FATHER

Matthew 12:50  "For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother." Matthew 7:21 Kingdom!

GAVE HIMSELF

Galatians 1:4  "Who gave himself for our (brethren) sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world [age], according to the will of God and our Father:"

GAVE HIMSELF AS IN GALATIANS 1:4

1 Timothy 2:6  "Who gave [divdwmia, aorist active participle] himself [ejautou'] a ransom [ajntiv for + luvron redemption price] for [ujpe;r in behalf of],  all (all of the many because of Matthew 20:28), to be testified in due time."

RANSOM FOR MANY

Matthew 20:28  "Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life [yuchv, soul] a ransom [luvtron, redemption price] for [ajntiv] many (not all)."

 

 

GAVE HIMSELF AS IN GALATIANS 1:4

Titus 2:14  "Who gave [divdwmia, aorist active indicative] himself [ejautou'] for us, that he might redeem [luvtrow, aorist middle subjunctive, may ransom] us from all iniquity [ajnomiva, lawlessness], and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works."

REDEEM ONLY NEXT OF KIN

Leviticus 25:48-49  "After that he is sold he may be redeemed [luvtrwsi", lxx, ransom] again; one of his brethren may redeem [luvtrow, lxx, ransom] him: 49. Either his uncle, or his uncle's son, may redeem him, or any that is nigh of kin unto him of his family may redeem him; or if he be able, he may redeem himself."

HE GAVE HIMSELF FOR OUR SINS

GOOD PLEASURE OF HIS WILL

Isaiah 53:10  "Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul (yuvch, lxx) an offering for sin (you can come back into the camp), he shall see his seed (the seed of Abraham, Gal. 3:7), he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.

OF FAITH ARE SONS

Galatians 3:7  "Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham."

HE WILL BEAR THE CONSEQUENCES

Isaiah 53:11. He shall see of the travail of his soul (yuvch), and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear (the consequences)  their (the many) iniquities (sins).

SOLD YOURSELVES

Isaiah 50:1  "Thus saith the LORD, . . Behold, for your iniquities (sins)have ye sold yourselves,. ."

BEAR CONSEQUENCES

Lamentations 5:7  "Our fathers have sinned, and are not; and we have borne their iniquities."

CONSEQUENCES

Numbers 14:33  "And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness."

OUR INTERCESSOR

Isaiah 53:12. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul (yuvch, lxx) unto death (qavnato", lxx): and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession (as high priest) for the transgressors (the many)."

FAITHFUL HIGH PRIEST

Hebrews 2:17  "Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people (brethren)."

HE MIGHT DELIVER US

Galatians 1:4  "Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver [pluck us out, rescue] us (brethren) from this present evil world [age], according to the will of God and our Father:"

RESCUE

Acts 23:27  "This man (Paul) was taken of the Jews, and should have been killed of them: then came I with an army, and rescued [delivered] him, . . ."

OUR PRAYER

Matthew 6:13  "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen."

JESUS' PRAYER

John 17:14-15  "I have given them (little children, John 13:33, that believe present active) thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 15. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.

John 17:19 "And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they (little children, John 13:33) also might be sanctified through the truth. 20. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them (little children, John 13:33) also which shall believe [present active participle] on me through their word;"

HIS PURPOSE

Luke 1:74  "That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,"

DELIVERED FROM DARKNESS

Colossians 1:13  "Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:"

THE LORD IS FAITHFUL

2 Thessalonians 3:1-3  "Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: 2. And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. 3. But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil."

DELIVERED FROM EVIL WORK

2 Timothy 4:18  "And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen."
