Text:  Romans 5:10-11  For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.  11  And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

MUCH MORE

Romans 5:10  For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we (saved) shall be saved [future tense] by his life.

“WE”, PAUL AND THOSE IN ROME

Romans 1:7  To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints:

PROLONG HIS DAYS

Isaiah 53:10-11  Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.  11  He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

PROLONGED MINISTRY

Hebrews 5:5  So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.

THE PROMISE FULFILLED

Acts 13:32-33  And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,  33  God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

MELCHISEDEC

Hebrews 5:6  As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

CHRIST’S STRUGGLE

Hebrews 5:7  Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death [qanatov, noun], and was heard in that he feared;

PRAYERS

Mark 14:33-36  And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;  34  And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death [qanatov, noun]: tarry ye here, and watch.  35  And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.  36  And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.

SUPPLICATIONS

Luke 22:43-44  And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.  44  And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

HE SUFFERED

Hebrews 5:8  Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

OBEDIENCE

Luke 22:42-44  Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done

AGELASTING SALVATION

Hebrews 5:9  And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal [agelasting] salvation (so great salvation) unto all them that obey him;

COMMON SALVATION

Jude 1:3  Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

SO GREAT SALVATION

Hebrews 2:3  How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord (Mat 3:2  And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand), and was confirmed unto us by them (apostles) that heard him;

SALVATION IN CHRIST

2 Timothy 2:10  Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

HIGH PRIEST AFTER MELCHISEDEC

Hebrews 5:10  Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.

WHO MAKES INTERCESSION FOR US

Hebrews 7:24-25  But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.  25  Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

FAITHFUL HIGH PRIEST

Hebrews 2:17  Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

WE HAVE A GREAT HIGH PRIEST

Hebrews 4:14-16  Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.  15  For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.  16  Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

OF GOOD THINGS TO COME

Hebrews 9:11  But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

WE BOAST IN GOD

Romans 5:11  And not only so, but we also joy [present middle, rejoice 5:2] in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement [should be translated reconciliation].

RESTORE FELLOWSHIP

1 Corinthians 7:11  But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION

2 Corinthians 5:18-20  And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us (Paul and the church at Corinth; 1:2) to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;  19  To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world (the nation of Israel) unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.  20  Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye (1Co 3:1  And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.) reconciled to God.
