Text:  Romans 3:1-6  What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision? 2 Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God. 3 For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? 4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged. 5 But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man) 6 God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world?

WHAT IS THE ADVANTAGE OR PROFIT?

Romans 3:1  What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?

CIRCUMCISION GIVEN TO ABRAHAM

Acts 7:8  And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.

CIRCUMCISION THE SIGN

Romans 4:11-12  And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also: 12 And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.

OF THE HEART

Romans 2:29  But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

OUT OF THE HEART

Proverbs 4:23  Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

SANCTIFY THE LORD IN OUR HEARTS

1 Peter 3:15  But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

BY FAITH WE PLEASE GOD

Hebrews 11:6  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

THE PRAISE OF GOD

Matthew 25:23  His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

IF WE PASS THE TEST

1 Peter 1:7  That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

MUCH EVERY WAY

Romans 3:2  Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.

GOD’S WORD, STATUTES, AND JUDGMENTS

Psalms 147:19-20  He showeth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel. 20 He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the LORD.

SOME DID NOT PLEASE GOD

Romans 3:3  For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief [a + faith] make the faith of God without effect?

SOME DID NOT BELIEVE

Psalms 95:10-11  Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: 11 Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.

THEY CAME SHORT

Hebrews 4:1-2  Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2 For unto us was the gospel (of our inheritance) preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them,  not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

WE WILL BE DENIED

2 Timothy 2:12-13  If we suffer [endure], we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us (the privilege of reigning with him): 13 If we believe not [a + faith, no faith], yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself. (to deny those that do not endure)

SOME HAD AN EVIL HEART

Hebrews 3:12-13  Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief [a + faith, no faith], in departing from the living God. 13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

THEY WERE CUT OFF

Hebrews 3:18-19  And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not [not persuaded]? 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief [a + faith, no faith].

HOLY BRANCHES

Romans 11:16  For if the first fruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.

BRANCHES CUT OFF

Romans 11:19  Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.

BECAUSE OF UNBELIEF

Romans 11:20  Well; because of unbelief [a + faith, no faith] they were broken off (cut off), and thou standest by faith. Be not high minded, but fear:

GOD, IN WRATH SPARED NOT

Romans 11:21  For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.

CONTINUE IN HIS GOODNESS

Romans 11:22  Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

HIS GOODNESS SHOULD CAUSE CHANGE

Romans 2:4  Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

ABIDE NOT IN UNBELIEF

Romans 11:23  And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief [a + faith, no faith], shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again. (as well as us)

HOW GREAT IS THY GOODNESS

Psalms 31:19  Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!

HIS GOODNESS ON DISPLAY

Ephesians 2:7  That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness [goodness] toward us through Christ Jesus.
